On Tuesday February 5th Alpine Meadows hosted a full day of search and rescue dog training in conjunction with the Placer County Sherriff Search and Rescue, and the Placer County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Tahoe Dog Team. It was a real carnival for the dogs with helicopter rides, treasure hunts in the snow and non-stop games all designed to train them to sniff out and save buried avalanche victims. www.skialpine.com

I have tried training him on those "puppy training pads" and newspapers and it worked at first but now that he’s been getting older and bigger he doesn’t want to use them anymore.

is it better to crate train a puppy or have it in an enclosed area with puppy pads? and i dont want the puppy to live in the crate, just till he is housebroken.

I just got a yorkie a couple of days ago, and I realize he’s still adjusting, but he’s eating sorta randomly, sorta whenever she feels. (and yes, I know about the whole eating well then when they’re puppies) I guess he eats that way cause the breeder said food was always available there. Anyway, when reading advice on housebreaking a puppy, they say you should feed the puppy, then make sure you take them outside soon cause they’ll have to poop or whatever–but he doesn’t have to poop right after he eats!! Then I’ll put him in the crate again like 2 hrs later then he poops…what am i doing wrong here. Is he too young or still adjusting? Should i wait?
