My dog just turned one last month. He seems to be housebroken, but I’m not sure if he is 100%. He won’t go in the house on regular occasions, but the last two times he played with other dogs, he made mistakes in the house (he gets really really excited when playing with other dogs). Also, I just moved into a new house, and I woke up to the sound of him peeing! I’d say he still had an accident every month or so since he was about 6 months old, always when he drinks a ton of water (he did last night). Should I consider re-training him? Or is he still considered a puppy and these accidents will eventually stop once he can control his bladder better…?

So, we got a puppy a while back, like the end of July. He’s currently about 5 months old, and we thought we had housebroken him. He’s only inside at night, when it storms, or sometimes, when we want him in. The majority of the time, he’s outside. The other day we finished puppy proofing one room in our house, so he could stay there when it rains without him having to be in his kennel or have someone be with him. This room he was very familiar with, and knew not to go to the bathroom i nthere, and never does when we’re with him. But we left him in there, and he peed and pooped all over the room. It seems like he knows it’s wrong, if I sneak downstairs, I can see him running around, but the minute I come into sight he quickly lays down and acts like he’s being good. I don’t know how to treat this behavior, we’ve done stuff such as putting his face near/almost in his feces when he goes in there, and even tried to catch him secretly. Nothing seems to work. Everytime hes alone he goes to the bathroom.

I have a 9 week old puppy, I have been having a hard time house breaking him lately. When I catch him in the act I grab him up and run him outside hoping he will do his business out there. But when I take him out there he wont go, he just keeps trying to walk to the door because its so hot outside.

Is there anything I can do to get him house broken?

I just got a new puppy yesterday and I was wondering if anyone knew the easiest way to potty train them. I know there is no real simple way but I’ve read about lots of methods and I’m not sure which one will be the most effective. I’ve owned many dogs before but they’ve already been trained once I’ve gotten them so I’m very new to this. Any advice is appreciated.
