ia a lab better thana golden retriever
hell yea a lab is better tan a golden
what do you mean by keep the lesh loose ????????????anh how do you
whoa… thats really awful…
how it ment to lern anythin frm that?
i have two black lab… they were driving me craaazy but i love them and ur way actually works.
in using the word heel shouldn’t the stop after staying on your left side?
dont keep a constant tight strain on them
i personaly do not think this is neccasary, my labrador did fine with simple jerks on his collar, and i never did bellieve in giving them a treat after doing something that should be standard behavior, simple praise is good enough
Do you recommend a head collar such as the gentle leader?
I have a Lab/Akita and it will pull until it actually chokes itself, actually it will keep pulling to, it’s getting old now, and I walk her every day, but she just pulls, she has dragged me down the road when I was younger, now she is on the choke chain, and she still pulls, it’s a pain in the ass to walk her because she always has, i’ve tryed everything.
your dog needs more exercise. also, use a prong collar it does less dammage to your dog than a traditional choke chain. Good luck…
you dont understand this dog breaks still link chains
train walking at home more, like inside or in the backyard. There’s less distraction there. before you start walking, make sure your dog is paying attention to you, and that the leach is loose.
when your dog starts to pull while walking, stop walking. when the dog turns around to you, (eye-contact) reward him/her.
good luck
My dog is not distracted when I walk her, she is just a puller, she is focused, and well tempered, I have tryed that method also, it does not teach her, I think it’s the Akita in her that makes her so stubborn. I know it takes time to teach a dog things, but I have been walking this dog everyday for about 9 years.
hehhe,i have a labrador either,check my video.
forget a prong collar & choke chains …. halti or gentle leader works beautifully …. They both are VERY effective, humane tool for leash training & daily management of hard to control dogs. Its revolutionary design is based on the same principle as a horse’s head collar - if you guide the head, the body will surely follow.
Dogs are predatory animals so by using a gentle leader it basically takes away their only defense. If you watch many dogs that wear them you see them trying to take it off by rubbing it on the ground, etc. However, for some dogs I do agree with you that they are highly effective and work well as a way to control your dog. For some dogs that are unsure of themselves, nervous, etc., it causes heightened aggression & fear.
A halti/gentle leader works more effectively on horses because they are fight or flight animals and they mainly rely on their legs as a means of protection. Unfortunately, halti/gentle leaders are not as effective for dogs.
I was suggesting that for dogs that are extremely hard to walk … maybe a dog one adopts and is older and has no training whatsoever. I have a chocolate lab that walks like a magnet by me & I have never used it, but my friends 110 pound chocolate does need something and his owners use it and it works like a charm …
i need some tips on training my Black lab to stop pulling so hard on his leash!
i just have to get the lead out and my lab-mix goes crazy, wont pay attention to me, i can call him all i want an he just blanks me as he drags me round the park, despite wearing a headcollar designed to stop pulling Then he goes crazy an throws himself around when he spots another dog, person or even a car…an tips on how to stop this would rly help.
